Scholarship Opportunity
The Community Partners Mentoring Scholarship Program offers scholarships to undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Our application opens every spring semester on Utah.AcademicWorks.com for the upcoming academic year. Students accepted in to the program will be paired with a mentor from the community, be invited to exclusive networking events on campus and cultivate professional development skills! Scholarship is $2,000 and may be renewed up to four years.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be eligible for the Community Partners Mentoring Scholarship Program you must:
- Be a sophomore, junior or senior at the University of Utah
- Enroll in 15 credit hours or more in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023
- Be progressing satisfactorily towards your first undergraduate degree with a 2.0 GPA or higher
- Demonstrate financial need
- Complete a FAFSA (Students not eligible for FAFSA please contact Financialaid@utah.edu for more information)
Prospective Mentors
Financial Commitment
Mentors commit to providing an annual $2,000 scholarship for up to four years or until the student graduates. Students must reapply annually for renewal with their mentor. To participate in your own deeply rewarding Community Partners Mentoring Scholarship experience, please contact us.
Mentor Time Commitment
Mentors serve as advocates as students grow their professional portfolio, network, and develop interview skills. Mentors and students meet or touch base once a month during the academic year via text messaging, email, or in person. As well, mentors and students participate in program events throughout the year.

Prospective Students
Would you like to have your own personal advocate? How about a $2,000 scholarship? You can have both!
The Community Partners program matches you with a volunteer from the profession to which you aspire and provides a $2,000 annually renewable scholarship.
During the academic year students and mentors touch base once a month via email, in person, or by text message. It can be a simple ‘hi’ or getting feedback, or touring their business. Once matched, mentors and students create their own unique relationship. No matter your aspirations, mentors are an invaluable resource and advocate for you.
The sky is the limit in how your mentor can support your professional aspirations!

Community Partners Opportunity Fund
Current participants in the Community Partners Mentoring Scholarship Program are eligible to apply for funding to support participation in a Deeply Engaged Learning Experience. Awards range from $100 - $1,000 and are to be use specifically for your chosen project. Students are limited to one award per academic year. Applicants must be in good academic and program standing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Student
This scholarship has the potential to be renewable up to four years or until you graduate, whichever comes first. However, you must be actively participating in the program and fill out a renewal application every spring semester to be eligible for renewal.
Mentors and students are strongly recommended to meet/touch base once per month during the academic year (text, email, or in person).
A personal statement will be shared with a prospective mentor. It’s your opportunity to share a little more about your goals and aspirations and why you’re seeking to join a mentorship program.
Mentor
Commitment depends on the expected graduation timeline for the student you intend to mentor. For example, if you decide to mentor a student in their sophomore year, we encourage at least a three year commitment. However, a mentor can decide not to recommit.
